"Candy Crushed"

Project type

Metallic micro-flake pigment and automotive paint on linen, woven reconstruction with premium grade raw linen and hand made frayed linen sprayed frill

Date

2024

Size

80 x 90 cm

This work is reconstructed from a failed version of “Field of Dreams.” What once felt like frustration was cut apart and rewoven. Glossy pastel strips are interlaced with raw linen, creating a deliberate contrast between earthy neutrality and seductive sweetness.

The palette appears delicate and enticing, almost confectionary. Yet beneath this softness lies the memory of collapse and pressure. The process was anything but gentle. The geometry holds the discipline of reconstruction, while the hand made frayed linen frill softens its edges.

“Candy Crushed” carries the tension between labour and lightness. What felt crushing became tender. The work reveals that sweetness can emerge from strain, and that softness often rests on a history of persistence.
